Little things

Enjoy the little things,
for one day you may look back
and realize they were the big things.
Robert Brault

Today we stayed home sick...my boy and I.  We snuggled under our favorite blanket and watched cartoons.  I snapped this picture while he was on my lap.  He looks so much like he did at six months to me.  My baby...getting so big. As we snuggled I thought to myself, I hope I never forget how this feels.  The way we fit together so perfectly when we "snuggle up" as he calls it.
I have been looking at him lately and getting teary eyed.
He is closing in on 5.
5 is so big.
I don't want him to be big.

Super Bowl!

We had our own little
Super Bowl
party this afternoon.
This was the first time we have watched it together.  Ever.  This is pretty crazy because my Dad was a football coach and I grew up watching it.
It was fun to talk with them about it and try to explain things.
We were rooting for the Giants.
There was some dancing when they won!

 They even made signs.

P.S.  I used to hate carnations, but these beauties are growing on me.
They look so cute on our table.

Father/Daughter Dance

Seri was OVER THE MOON to go to the Father/Daughter dance with her Daddy.
 She looks so grown up.

This is their second year going.  I hope she thinks it is this fun every year and never grows "to cool" to go.

Parent Volunteer

On Monday I got to be a parent volunteer for the first time.  For 11 years I have had parent volunteers in my classroom and have appreciated all of their help.  Today I got to help in Jett's classroom.  He was so excited and so proud to have me there.  We sat together during calendar, did centers together, read books together, had snack and played outside.  I had so much fun meeting all of his friends that he talks about and loved learning his routine so I can ask him more detailed questions about his day.

A dance party and colored ice.

There was a dance party in our living room this afternoon.  Everyone was invited.
Giraffe.  Frogs.  Dogs. Octopus. The Cats.
AND I guess Jett thinks you don't wear shirts to dance parties because once the music started his shirt came off.
Hilarious.

Clara came but just sat and stared at their craziness.
Henry didn't even go to the party.
He was too comfy on the bed.

We tried something new today.
I put food coloring and water in an ice cube tray, covered them with saran wrap, stuck in sticks and put them in the freezer.

Hours later they were ready.

They LOVED it.  Once they started melting, we put them back in the freezer to use again.

My Little Artist

Some boys love sports.
Some boys love trains.
My boy loves art.
Drawing.
Painting.
Cutting.
Creating.
All day.  Every day.
We have creations on our walls, in frames, on the fridge and in scrapbooks.
He amazes me more and more everyday with what he creates at the age of 4.
Here are two things he created just this week:

1.  Fantastic Four Book
He made his own book (he broke our stapler so he hole punched and I helped tie the ribbons).  It was all about the characters of
Fantastic 4.

Seri helped write "flamse" and he was so mad that she spelled it wrong.  She was darn close.
Little does he know "stretch" is spelled wrong too.

 by Jett
This is the first time I have ever seen him draw a jet with his name.
 2.  Outer space
He started this yesterday in my classroom.  He found the star stickers in the treasure box and that must have triggered the picture.  He is studying space at preschool and was telling me all about constellations.  If you look closely, there is a constellation at the top of the picture.
I think this may be one of his best drawings yet.  It's definitely making it's way to the "art gallery" down our stairwell.
Can you find the sun?  Meteor?  Earth?  Rocket?  Planets? Constellation?
I love that he has a passion.
We go through ALOT of paper, tape, glue and markers.  I am constantly finding tape on my socks, pants, counters and floor.  Even though I can get frustrated with the mess he can make on the kitchen floor and our white table is stained with markers and paints, I wouldn't change anything.  I hope he continues to love being an artist.

Saturday

Jett woke up this morning at 5:15 this morning yelling "Mom, I'm ready to get dressed."
He had a birthday party to go to today and was SUPER excited.
The birthday party wasn't until 4:00.  Oh boy.

We ventured to my classroom so I could get somethings done. They couldn't wait to go.
They are so overwhelmed with all the things they can do there...art tables, computers, toys, the big easel, music and even a gym.

After the birthday party and baths, both kiddos were asleep by 7:15.
It was a good day.
Laundry tomorrow.
Blah.
