5 year old well check
My handsome boy, you had your 5 year old check up today. We went together, you and me, to see the doc. We walked in holding hands and you stopped at the door because you were scared. Even though you have been to the same doctor's office for 5 years, you don't remember. You were of course full of personality and were covering up how nervous you actually were with silly jokes and stories. The doctor thought you were very healthy and growing and even mentioned how tired I must be at the end of the day taking care of you. He thinks you are awesome. You have grown 5 inches this year and are in the 90% for height. I tell you all the time that someday I will look up to you like you look up to me. You think that is sooo funny. The doc and I discussed how you are pigeon toed and that is probably why you have a hard time sitting criss-cross at preschool. No wonder you keep telling me it hurts. Now I know why.
Little did you know that you were getting your 5 year old vaccinations, which you DID NOT like one bit. You cried (and screamed) for a good 5 minutes before we could leave our little room to go home. Your poor little legs have been sore all day.
I tried to heal you with lots of snuggles, Tylenol, a yummy healthy dinner and ice cream on the front steps.
That seemed to do the trick.
Here are your 5 year old stats:
Height: 45 inches 90th percentile
Weight: 40.5 lbs 60th percentile
I love you with all my heart little man.

My Star of the Week
Jett is the STAR OF THE WEEK at preschool this week. His poster hangs in the hallway outside his classroom.
Man, he is cute.

Little things
Enjoy the little things,
for one day you may look back
and realize they were the big things.

Today we stayed home sick...my boy and I. We snuggled under our favorite blanket and watched cartoons. I snapped this picture while he was on my lap. He looks so much like he did at six months to me. My baby...getting so big. As we snuggled I thought to myself, I hope I never forget how this feels. The way we fit together so perfectly when we "snuggle up" as he calls it.
I have been looking at him lately and getting teary eyed.
He is closing in on 5.
5 is so big.
I don't want him to be big.

Parent Volunteer
On Monday I got to be a parent volunteer for the first time. For 11 years I have had parent volunteers in my classroom and have appreciated all of their help. Today I got to help in Jett's classroom. He was so excited and so proud to have me there. We sat together during calendar, did centers together, read books together, had snack and played outside. I had so much fun meeting all of his friends that he talks about and loved learning his routine so I can ask him more detailed questions about his day.

30 minutes.
This summer after lunch we have been setting the timer for 30 minutes to read. They can pick a cozy spot anywhere in the house to relax, be quiet and read. I even make sure I sit down and read something. Sometimes they decide to read together and sometimes they go their separate ways. It is one of my favorite times of day. It's quiet and peaceful and I love how excited they are about their books.
Today Seri ventured outside on the couch with her pile of books.
*This is my favorite dress of hers. Love.
Today Jett slept. He read one book, made himself a bed on the couch and went to sleep.
Sweet boy.
Henry decided to sleep too.
Then, my little man woke up sooooo happy. Double love.
It's finally going to get summertime "hot" the next few days.
We're heading to the pool...or the movies...or both.

My boy has style.
Pajamas, Spiderman socks and flip-flops.
Fantastic.

Better.
Today was better.
No headache.
Got some laundry done and can now see the floor of the laundry room.
Had a great celebration of our year together in Kindergarten.
2 more days.
Plus, I got these. My love letters from my sweeties. Always a surprise. Always have to close my eyes to receive them. Always love them.

Don't I look great in Jett's portrait of me? He cut it out and wrote Mom all by himself. Melts my heart.

Muah! (Is that how you spell it?)
Yep, those are my lips. Beautiful, huh?

Just my little man and me
Seri headed out on the annual spring break camping trip with my Dad and her cousins. Yes, they all pile into his motor home and he takes them to a campground for a few days. Pretty fun. He bought them all hats (as you see Seri is wearing) and they headed out.
She could hardly wait.
Seri (6), Marli (5), Tai (9), Riley (13), Sy (9)
So, what did Jett and I decide to do?
We headed to the local carnival in town.
He rode rides, ate cotton candy and won a big blue dolphin.
He was beaming the whole time.
I miss my little lady, but it's so much fun to have this alone time with my favorite little boy in the world.
We are now having a dinner date and a movie.
Love.

Favorite Person.
Scene: While changing the sheets on the bed tonight (one of my least favorite things to do.) Jett laid on the floor watching.
Jett: "Mom...do you know who my favorite person in the whole wide world is?"
Mama: Who buddy?
Jett: You, of course. I love you.
Mama: You know who my favorite little boy is in the whole wide world?
Jett: I know. It's Jett. That's me.

What if I had two little mans?
That would be crazy.

Seri lost her 6th tooth tonight! It fell out while I was brushing her teeth.
Her glasses also came in. Adorable. They make her look so grown up.
Makes me sad. She's growing up.

Spring break starts tomorrow afternoon.
