First Grade

My lady started first grade today.  

Doesn't she look so grown up?

 She had the BEST day (as she put it) and she can't wait for school tomorrow.  

"Mom, what am I going to wear to school tomorow?"  

Oh dear...it's already starting.

I am so proud of her.

Yep.  Summer.  It's over. 

It was wonderful while it lasted.  

School starts tomorrow.  

We are all three at a new school.  Jett is starting at preschool and Seri and I have moved to a different elementary.  

My little lady starts first grade.  Wow.  

We are all pretty excited but sad to see summer go.

These last few days of summer...

We have been doing all we can these last few days of our summer vacation.  I head back to work on Thursday.  Blah.  

We had our first summer neighborhood BBQ.  Unfortunately it was to say goodbye to our wonderful neighbors who have lived here for 40 years!  Boy will we miss our Jimmy.  We loved to hear his whistling and know he was always looking out for us and the house at all times.  

We went school supply shopping.  HOLY COW!  Why did I think this would be a fun task with the kids?  They could have cared less and ran amok while I was frantically marking items of the list.  Now I know how I make my classroom parents feel.  

*Yes, I still have NOT gotten a new camera.  I have still been relying on the iphone, except it isn't always the best.

We had a Lemonade and Art Sale this morning.  Our neighbors down the street were having a HUGE picnic in their yard so there was A LOT of traffic.  We took advantage and sold lemonade and a piece of art for 25 cents!  

The kids made $12.00!  Preeeettttty good.  
That's 6 more dollars in their 
piggy banks for college.  

Hawaiian Shaved Ice is the BEST...especially on a HOT summer day!

Jett ended ended our wonderful day today by putting his styrofoam cup in the toilet and flushing.  Don't try it.  It doesn't flush.  "Mom, Mom, there is TONS of water all over the floor!  HURRY MOM!"That's all I heard.  I went running to the bathroom to find Jett standing in water...HUGE amounts of water...all over the floor and almost down the hallway.  Thanks Jett.  Frantically cleaning water off the floors with no AC on a 95 degree day wasn't exactly fun.  It wasn't exactly my best parenting moment either.  Let's just hope it NEVER happens again.

These relaxing summer days are almost done.  It's time for earlier bed times and earlier wakes ups around here to get ready for the big first days of school.

Summer is almost over.  BOO.

I have been working like crazy in my new classroom unpacking, purging, cleaning and organizing.  We have one week left.  

One week.  That's it.  

Bummer.

I finally hung my clothesline I have been wanting to put up.  Perfect spot for wet swimsuits, towels, clothes, etc.  We may even use it to make our own tent.

 Jett has taped white paper together to create his name.  I couldn't believe he did it all by himself.  He worked on it in the basement and surprised me with it.  Now we are working on coloring them.  His creativity amazes me.

 We found Seri her own cowboy boots today at the Goodwill.  She was SOOOOO excited to have boots just like her brother.

 Backpacks have arrived!  

 The yard is looking the bests it's looked yet in the 2 years we have been here.  My cosmos this year are amazing and HUGE!

We have a few more items to check off our summer to do list this week...campout, museum, ice cream for dinner...
