Beautiful Day

Yesterday was a beautiful HOT day.  We headed out to my parents to swim for the first time this summer.

I am blogging during our daily "rest time".
For an hour we all find a comfy and cozy spot to rest, read or draw.  So calm and quiet.
Ahhh.
I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open.
Oh, how I love summer.

5 year old well check

My handsome boy, you had your 5 year old check up today.  We went together, you and me, to see the doc.  We walked in holding hands and you stopped at the door because you were scared.  Even though you have been to the same doctor's office for 5 years, you don't remember.  You were of course full of personality and were covering up how nervous you actually were with silly jokes and stories.  The doctor thought you were very healthy and growing and even mentioned how tired I must be at the end of the day taking care of you.  He thinks you are awesome.  You have grown 5 inches this year and are in the 90% for height.  I tell you all the time that someday I will look up to you like you look up to me.  You think that is sooo funny.  The doc and I discussed how you are pigeon toed and that is probably why you have a hard time sitting criss-cross at preschool.  No wonder you keep telling me it hurts.  Now I know why.

Little did you know that you were getting your 5 year old vaccinations, which you DID NOT like one bit.  You cried (and screamed) for a good 5 minutes before we could leave our little room to go home.  Your poor little legs have been sore all day.
I tried to heal you with lots of snuggles, Tylenol, a yummy healthy dinner and ice cream on the front steps.
That seemed to do the trick.

Here are your 5 year old stats:
Height: 45 inches  90th percentile
Weight: 40.5 lbs  60th percentile

I love you with all my heart little man.

Super Heroes

Super Heroes made today by my boy.
Can you tell who they are?
Ironman

Hulk as a Grandpa.  Notice the grey hair and the speech bubble.

Wasp boy or Wasp Man.  I can't remember.

Captain America out of costume except for his shield.

Oops.  I forgot this ones name.

Spiderman vs. the black Spiderman

So close

Only 2 more days.
2 more days until summer vacation!
This school year seems like it has flown by.  I have had the sweetest and kindest class this year.
Even though I am looking forward to the summer, I will miss seeing my awesome little people on a daily basis.
Who wouldn't want to be told they are the best everyday?

My boy continues to amaze me with
his artistic abilities.
Tonight he held an "art class" for me.
He taught me how to draw a bus, a ladybug and a lock.  Do I have an art teacher on my hands?

Yum.
Homemade bread from one of my wonderful families in my classroom.
Delicious.

My Seri girl may be a pet whisperer.
She loves animals.
Tonight she went to bed with Henry, Clara and Edna all on her bed with her.

We had a dance party at school today to celebrate our hard work all year.  21 six year olds in a dark classroom with glow lights, necklaces and bracelets.
Best.  Time.  Ever.
"This is the best day ever!  Thank you teacher!"
We danced and danced and danced.

Lately, everyday when I pick up my little man he runs to the playground and hands dandelions to all his friends on the other side of the playground.
So sweet.

We are sad to say goodbye to some of our favorite friends.  We will miss them A LOT but know they are going to love their new home.

Jett has been doing a lot of bug hunting lately.
He will quietly and calming walk around the yard searching for bugs.  He has figured out the best places to find them.  He carries around his tools (magnifying glass, bug jar, bug net and even his little magnescope), catches his bugs and puts in all the things they will need.  Tonight he drew a roly poly bug he found.  I asked him what the green circle was as I didn't get what he was drawing at first.  "It's my magnifying glass Mom."
"Ohhh, it's perfect buddy."
Of course it's his magnifying glass.
Man, I love his creativity.

For some reason, Miss Clara thinks it is ok to sit on the furniture.  Seriously.
I think she is trying to tell me to buy her a bed.

We are so close people.
So close to summer.
Awesome..
